This week’s video is a weird one. I was browsing TikTok for “inspo” and stumbled upon something called “Cloud Bread,” which is basically egg whites, sugar, and food coloring. If you know anything about cooking, you know that sans the food coloring, that’s essentially meringue. But the internet has decided to call it “cloud bread” so I started thinking…how can I make fun of this?? And every other dumb viral food trend? Thus, “Viral Recipes in Therapy” was born.
BEFORE I say anything else, let me be crystal clear in that my intent is not to make fun of anyone with mental health issues. I’m a HUGE advocate of therapy/mental health topics in general. I just feel like you can never be too careful these days so I want to get ahead of that. It’s obviously a JOKE and I mean zero harm by it. Ok rant over.
If you saw my video last week, I made fun of the “healthy coke” trend, which claims that if you take club soda and mix it with balsamic vinegar, it will taste like coke (coca cola). I didn’t even try it because I didn’t want to do that to myself, but from the video reviews I’ve seen, it’s NOT GOOD. So…there’s that.
One of the things I do for my clients on social media is take their product/brand and try to personify it. I ask myself “if this (insert restaurant/product here) were a person, who would it be? How old are they? What do they like to do in their free time? Where do they live? etc.” It’s something I learned from my glorious days in ad sales. It helps you narrow down a few things:
1- who are they trying to reach?
2- what is the brand voice?
So, in the case of these viral recipes, I thought about who they would be and what they would say if they went to therapy. I can’t really explain how I got there, but my mind is a weird place, what can I say? It felt right though.
And speaking of TikTok, I had my first viral video! Exciting times. It reached 1MM views as of this morning. It’s a video of me making a video for Reunion, an awesome Mediterranean/Israeli restaurant here in Williamsburg, BK. I’m playing with a watermelon & feta salad, and people absolutely LOST THEIR SHIT OVER IT. The comments range from “omg just eat your food” to “doesn’t even look impressive lol” and other stupidity. People really get triggered on that app for no reason, it’s amazing.
I plan on sharing more of the BTS of content creation, so we’ll see how it goes but so far nothing else has popped off like that one, even the ones that are created similarly. I shall shrug and move on.
And since I don’t answer all of my DM’s directly because of my thumb/wrist issues and trying to be better about phone usage when I’m not working, here are some answers to your recent questions in the DMs:
Botox: Peachy Studios - $375 flat rate no matter how many units you get.
Daily Harvest Questions: a few people asked what my experience was with that whole Lentil Crumbles nightmare they’re currently dealing with. If you missed it, there’s something horribly wrong with that product and it’s been making people very sick. I had a TINY amount last Monday and had some of the worst GI pain for DAYS. It was very unusual, like severe cramping in the upper abdomen/chest/ribs area. Had it persisted, I was planning on going to the ER or my GP to get tests done. It dissipated by Thursday but again, I had such a small amount, I can only imagine what happened to people who ate the entire bag. So bad. If you have these crumbles, throw them out or send them to the FDA for testing.
Bath Bomb: It was “sex bomb” from Lush. Smelled amazing and no, it didn’t stain my tub.
Top that I wore on the boat for Rayna’s bday: this made me laugh but it’s from Aritzia. Aside from that, you can assume that 90% of my clothes are from Lulus. Best value and always fits perfectly. Love Aritzia but their prices are insane.
Skincare: Estee Lauder Daywear or La Mer Gel Cream ($$ I know) for day, and Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair serum at night.
I think that’s about it. Til next time!
