Speaking of going viral…I sure as shit took it literally and caught the viral plague known as Covid last week. Finally feeling normal today after a week of misery and Paxlovid, which is its own nightmare thanks to the aftertaste of grapefruit and soap it leaves in your mouth ALL. FUCKING. DAY.
But I digress. First off, here’s the latest IG Reel describing my feelings on this topic ever so succinctly…click away and you know the drill. If ya like it, SHARE IT. Or tag a friend in the comments. We are talking about VIRAL CONTENT AFTER ALL. Ok I’ll stop yelling now.
I’ve been thinking a lot about the phrase “going viral” lately for a few reasons (aside from the fact that I've had Covid recently), and the main one is that I think our goals have changed with social media. “Going viral” is now the #1 priority (for most creators) and it never really used to be. If anything, going viral was just a perk or a stroke of luck, whereas I’ve noticed lately, especially on TikTok and Reels, it’s become this belief that if you post enough, you’ll eventually go viral.
It’s no longer a combination of great timing combined with great content, it’s just become this inevitable goal that you’ll reach if you just keep pumping out content. And that’s where people get frustrated, burnt out, and unhappy. This goal sets unhealthy and unrealistic expectations for people, and even more so for brands and businesses.
As a social media manager, I help businesses create good content, stay consistent, and stay relevant by trying new things to keep up with trends, etc. But if nothing ever “pops off,” does that mean I’m bad at my job?? Does that mean they have a bad product?? It shouldn’t, but somehow that’s what has become of the way we look at it.

What was the salad co you posted recently? Fifth Season and I got them on FreshDirect, they’re SO good they sell out constantly. I love the crunchy elements of each salad. Check here to see if they’re in stock!
What is that weird round thing in your living room? It’s a Chirp Wheel and you should try it out if you have back/neck pain like I do. Linked here.
How do I get your Lightroom Presets? Linked here
What were your Covid symptoms? No fever, but sore throat, awful headache, mild cough, sinus congestion, and INSANE fatigue/body aches. I have arthritis to begin with so it made everything so much worse I could barely hold my phone some days.
What does Paxlovid taste like? Nothing on its own, but the aftertaste will literally wake you up at night. Grapefruit and soap. No joke.
What are you watching during isolation? Welp, see below.
Shows I have binged thanks to quarantine:
Honestly this should just be its own post because I have so many thoughts on each one but for now…
Barry - obsessed. I watched 2 seasons in one day. I wish I was kidding. Love Bill Hader in this role, which is quite the stray from his norm.
Ultimatum - it appears to be trashy reality TV but it’s actually really interesting. Some drama of course but we live for that.
Are You The One - I don’t have enough hours in the day to get into how addictive this garbage was. It’s like Jersey Shore mixed with Road Rules and Love Island. Absolutely insane but enjoyable if you like drama.
365 Days Sequel - couldn’t even get through this without laughing at nearly every scene. It’s too much. Might as well just switch over to PornHub. The guy is so hot, I watched purely for that but literally couldn’t finish it. I doubt I missed anything important.
Upload - interesting and enjoyable watch. Kinda like Severance (but not dark like that) mixed with Black Mirror and comedy.
The Thing About Pam - based on an insane true story of a murder. Very entertaining and Renee Zellweger is pretty great in it.
Selling Sunset - been obsessed with this show since the first season. The drama, the outfits. It’s so over the top but the real estate porn is worth it.
I honestly think there’s more but I can’t remember. I’d say that’s impressive binging for 7 days though.
TOOTLES FAM.
